Perfect for: brunch
The Space
Project Coffee occupies just over half of a century-old Spanish colonial building in the Rosemary District, with the original plaster and terracotta brick still visible beneath the skylights. A full second floor adds to the indoor seating and there's a sidewalk terrace out front, so the room rarely runs out of space even when it's busy.
The Coffee
The latte and cappuccino were both drinkable but underwhelming, with little real flavor coming through in either. Project roasts its own beans on a Probat L12 in the back and pours oat milk by default rather than as a special order, though the kitchen has since widened past its original all-vegan menu to include eggs and dairy on some items.
You feel energized here because of the crowd and the music, not because of what's in the cup.
The Vibe
The room runs warm and loud, a real crowd and a soundtrack that at times drowns out conversation. Skip it if you're bringing a book to read alone.
The Verdict
The food and the building are doing the heavy lifting here, not the espresso. Go for the brunch and the room, and treat the coffee as a bonus, not the reason for the trip.
