The Space
RØST occupies a small, Scandinavian-styled room in the heart of the Rotermann Quarter, Tallinn's converted industrial district turned design hub. It is compact and popular enough that a queue out the door is the normal state of affairs.
The Coffee
The coffee holds up its end, but the cardamom bun is the real reason to visit, moist, aromatic, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. It is easily one of the best versions of the pastry I have had anywhere.
The cardamom bun is easily the star of the menu, and possibly the best one I have ever had.
The Vibe
Despite the crowd, the staff stay welcoming and friendly, moving the queue along without ever feeling rushed. It has the energy of a genuinely loved neighbourhood spot rather than a tourist trap that happens to be busy.
The Verdict
A gem, plainly, and a must visit if you are anywhere near Tallinn's old town or the Rotermann Quarter. Go for the cardamom bun, accept the queue as the price of admission, and thank me later.
