The Space
Two floors of exposed brick and generous proportions, with the upper level looking out over the water at Kanavaranta. It is one of the better-looking café interiors in Helsinki.
The Coffee
The first visit was close to impeccable, the kind of pour that justifies Johan & Nyström''s reputation as one of Scandinavia''s most respected roasters since 2004. The second fell flat in a way that felt more like a barista problem than a sourcing one.
The pier does what the coffee should.
The Vibe
Stylish and unhurried, with a crowd that skews design-aware and tends toward laptops or books. They run coffee courses and cupping sessions on-site, which gives the place a more serious edge than the décor alone suggests.
The Verdict
One of the best café settings in Helsinki, full stop. Order espresso rather than milk drinks until the consistency catches up with the location.
