Heim Cafe Santos
Santos · Lisbon · Steep Index 8.7/10 · Steep Pick

A small Santos brunch room with pavement tables, where the coffee is as good as the food and the place fills early.
The Steep Index
Both the coffee and the kitchen are genuinely good here, and plenty of busy brunch rooms manage only one of the two. Staying power is the soft axis, because the room is small and turns over quickly once it is full. Value holds up given what arrives on the plate.
- Coffee / Drink Quality: 9.2/10
- Atmosphere: 9.0/10
- Solo-Friendliness: 8.6/10
- Value: 8.4/10
- Staying Power: 8.3/10
- Overall: 8.7/10
Perfect for: brunch, espresso pilgrimage
The Space
A small room on the corner of Rua Santos-o-Velho with tables out on the pavement. Quaint, and full by mid-morning.
The Coffee
The coffee is excellent and holds its own against the food, which is not the usual arrangement in a brunch room. Order the pancakes with it, because they are the best in Lisbon and the rest of a long and genuinely good menu does not quite catch them.
Probably the best pancake in Lisbon. Budget for the wait.
The Vibe
Staff are friendly and keep moving, which on a Saturday they have to. Expect to queue, and expect it to be worth it.
The Verdict
Come early or come on a weekday, because the wait is real. Then take a table on the pavement and order the pancakes.
