TAKAHARA COFFEE ROASTERY
Kumoji · Naha · Steep Index 8.9/10 · Steep Pick

A hidden, art-gallery-fronted roastery up a dramatic stone staircase in central Naha, serving aromatic single-origin Ethiopian espresso tonic and flat white in locally crafted ceramics and a proper wine glass. A genuine espresso pilgrimage stop and a quiet escape from Naha's busiest street.
The Steep Index
Atmosphere leads by a wide margin, the art-gallery exterior, the stone staircase entrance framed by plants, the zen interior, and the locally crafted ceramics all point the same direction. Coffee and Solo-Friendliness follow close behind: both single-origins come out aromatic and well brewed, and the room is genuinely built for reading or passing the time alone. Staying Power tracks the same unhurried, no-wifi-by-design framing. Value is held moderate, confirmed cheap on average spend but with no other price commentary either way.

Perfect for: espresso pilgrimage, reading, no laptops, slow weekend, impressing someone, first date, people watching
The Space
From the street it reads more like a small art gallery than a coffee shop, easy to walk straight past entirely. Reaching it means climbing a dramatic stone staircase framed by plants before arriving at a room with an inviting, zen-like feel, four bar stools and a few tables, genuinely spacious for its size, and fun decoration in every direction, including bean vials set out so you can smell the coffee before it is brewed.
The Coffee
The espresso tonic and the flat white, both on a single-origin Ethiopian, come out aromatic and well brewed. The presentation carries the same care into the cup itself, the flat white in an interesting, locally crafted ceramic glass and the espresso tonic served in an actual wine glass, an unexpectedly classy touch for a coffee stand tucked behind a hotel.
No wifi, and that is exactly how it should be. Come for the coffee, stay for the staircase, the ceramics, and the quiet.
The Vibe
A fun background playlist runs under the room, and there is no wifi, which feels exactly right here rather than like an oversight. This is a place built for enjoying the coffee and the scenery, reading a book, or simply passing the time.
The Verdict
TAKAHARA COFFEE ROASTERY is a genuine espresso pilgrimage destination and a peaceful oasis a few steps off one of Naha's busiest, most touristy streets. The attention to detail, from the bean vials to the wine glass, is excellent throughout.
