The Space

The building is a former Edobori warehouse repurposed into something that takes a moment to fully absorb: ground floor coffee bar and wine retail anchored by a visible 35-kilogram Loring Smart Roaster, second floor given over to leather armchairs, oriental rugs, and sofas arranged around wooden tables. Two floors, two entirely different reasons to stay.

The Coffee

The coffee program runs around thirty single-origin options on any given day, roasted in-house on a custom La Marzocco Strada EP, with Cup of Excellence lots and premium Geisha processings among the regular rotations. On the ground floor, forty-eight wines are available through enomatic dispensers by 10ml pour, which means a bottle worth tens of thousands of yen becomes something you can actually try before committing to it.

The Loring runs at the back, Cup of Excellence lots sit on the menu, and forty-eight wines are available by the pour. Takamura has been quietly making the case that coffee and wine are the same subject.

The Vibe

The clientele spans solo readers on the second floor to couples working through the enomatic selections below, and the staff hold both programs with equal confidence. The rhythm here is unhurried in a way that matches the space, and the outdoor terrace extends things further on the right day.

The Verdict

Takamura is one of a small number of venues anywhere that has genuinely resolved the coffee and wine combination without compromising either side of it. Osaka's best cafe is also, in the early evening with a pour from the enomatic wall, one of its best bars.
