Dona Mira - Café, Bar e Cultura
Bonfim · Porto · Steep Index 8.5/10 · Steep Pick

A Bonfim cafe and bar opened by Brazilian musicians, with photographs of musicians on the walls and a library of about 350 books.
The Steep Index
The books and the room are what lift this. The music is chosen properly, nobody hurries you, and there is enough on the shelves to make it one of the better places in Porto to sit on your own for an afternoon. The coffee is good rather than exceptional, and the prices are fair enough that it hardly matters.

Perfect for: reading, slow weekend
The Space
A cafe and bar on Duque de Saldanha, walls covered in photographs of musicians, with roughly 350 books on the shelves that you are welcome to read. The backyard behind it is the part worth walking through the room for.
The Coffee
The flat white is quite good and the pão de queijo beside it is the pairing to make, which follows once you know who opened the place. The espresso martini later on is the other reason to come, with classic Portuguese sandwiches covering the hours in between.
Take a pão de queijo and a book out to the backyard. That is the whole recommendation.
The Vibe
Friendly, attentive staff, and music playing inside that the Brazilian musicians who opened the place clearly picked themselves. Cool without appearing to try.
The Verdict
Come alone, take something off the shelf, and sit out the back. It stays open until ten, so there is genuinely no rush.
