Cafes and bars in Kichijoji, Tokyo

Kichijoji turns up near the top of almost every survey asking where people in Tokyo actually want to live, and the coffee scene splits the same way the neighbourhood itself does. North of the station, past the shopping streets, a small in-house roastery sells its own beans alongside the counter. South, down toward Inokashira Park, a queue forms most weekends outside a tiny cafe with a terrace bench, and an espresso counter hides in the entrance of a vintage clothing store a few dozen metres away, easy to miss if nobody told you it was there.
