Asakusabashi, Thursday to Saturday

Tokyo · 1-2 hours · afternoon

Three specialty shops that did not exist a month ago, all within a three-minute walk under the JR tracks by Asakusabashi Station, on the three days their hours actually line up.

The route

  • 1. Goo Coffee Roasters
    Asakusabashi, Taito

Small and owner-run, with the roasting equipment close enough to watch. Order the in-house Colombian cold brew and say hi to the owner, who is happy to talk through it.

1 min walk to the next stop

  • 2. Sabo Tokyo
    Asakusabashi, Taito

One minute along the same block. Order the Yame Yabukita matcha, not the coffee, the stone-milled matcha is what this new stand actually does well.

3 min walk to the next stop

  • 3. nano-coffeeroaster
    Asakusabashi, Taito

The Steep Pick, and the reason to end here. A Karamo and a Gesha Village Geisha on the counter, hand-dripped, in a room the size of a train arch.
