Matcha People
Ari, Phaya Thai · Bangkok · Steep Index 8.4/10 · Steep Pick

Matcha People turns a quiet corner of Phahon Yothin 7 into a minimalist, ruminative pocket of Ari, and the Iced Clear Matcha may be the best matcha pour in Bangkok.
The Steep Index
Coffee, or in this case matcha, earns a 9.0. The Iced Clear Matcha was genuinely delightful, clean and well balanced, and easily the best matcha we have had in the city. Atmosphere sits at 8.8, a minimalist room that reads as appealing and relaxing rather than sparse, the kind of space that invites you to slow down. Solo comes in at 8.5, on a quiet Tuesday this was an easy place to sit alone and think, though the same room is said to get considerably busier on weekends, worth timing your visit around. Staying holds at 8.1, comfortable enough to linger once you have found a seat. Value is the one soft spot at 7.6, prices run a little high for what is a fairly small pour, though the experience justified it on the day.

The Space
Matcha People occupies a small, minimalist room on Phahon Yothin 7 in Ari, all clean lines and quiet restraint. On a Tuesday afternoon it was nearly empty, which made the space feel even more deliberately calm.
The Coffee
The Iced Clear Matcha is the drink to order, delicate, clean, and genuinely delightful in a way that made it the best matcha we have had anywhere in Bangkok. It runs a bit overpriced for the pour you get, but the quality of the matcha itself makes the case on its own.
The best matcha experience I have had in Bangkok, and it was not close.
The Vibe
Relaxing and inviting, the kind of room built for sitting alone and letting your thoughts wander, at least when it is quiet. It reportedly gets considerably busier on weekends, so a weekday visit is the better bet if solitude is the goal.
The Verdict
Matcha People earns its Steep Pick on the strength of the matcha alone, minimalist, calming, and worth seeking out on a quiet weekday. Go early in the week if you can, order the Clear Matcha, and let the room do the rest.
