The Space
A two-storey wooden house on a quiet residential street in Kamimeguro, right beside the Tokyu Toyoko Line tracks. Tokoname tiles, porcelain cups, roaster visible at the back. The second floor has limited seating but the window seats look directly onto the line. On weekends, those seats are gone within the first hour.
The Coffee
Beans roasted in-house, a menu kept deliberately short: espresso, americano, latte, hand drip. The latte is the right order, consistently well-made with good texture and balance. The banana bread alongside it is the food choice that keeps coming up, for good reason. Simple offer, consistently executed.
The second-floor window seat, with the Toyoko Line moving past below, is the thing that brings people back a second time.
The Vibe
Vibrant and quaint in equal parts. People-watching from the second floor means the trains, the street below, and whoever else managed to claim a seat. Solo visits feel completely natural here in a way that is not always true of smaller Tokyo rooms. The staff handle the weekend volume without losing the warmth.
The Verdict
This is where Onibus started, and it still earns the visit on its own terms. The coffee is consistent, the room is honest about what it is, and the train view from upstairs is the kind of detail that makes a place memorable rather than just good. Arrive early on weekends if the window seat matters to you.
