The bar sits on the third floor of the Hyatt Regency Tokyo, centred around classic leather sofas and warm low lighting that sets the mood before your drink arrives. It is a hotel bar that has been thought about rather than assembled.
The Pour
Eau de Vie carries one of the better whisky and brandy selections in Nishishinjuku, including a Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottle list that rewards anyone with a passing interest in Scotch. The rum espresso martini is the cocktail to order, rich and balanced without leaning on sweetness.

The Vibe
A mix of hotel guests and local professionals who know what they are doing, and the pace of the room reflects that. Chief bartender Genki Ozeki's team knows the menu and will give you a genuine recommendation if you ask, which is rarer in hotel bars than it should be.
The Verdict
If you are in Nishishinjuku and want a well-run bar with genuine depth behind the counter rather than a concept cocktail destination, this is the right call. The light meals and desserts are better than they need to be.
