A former bank basement in Kabutocho turned into one of Nihonbashi's most stylish cafes, better for the room than the coffee.
The Steep Index
Atmosphere is the reason to come here, a converted bank basement with communal tables, dried flowers, and genuinely striking design. The coffee itself was a letdown on our visit, though the iced chai latte more than made up for it, and solo seating is handled thoughtfully throughout the room.

The Space
coin occupies the basement of a former bank building in Kabutocho, a stylish, moody room with two communal tables and a handful of smaller tables built for solo visits or couples. A florist sits just next door, and the building's ground floor holds a genuinely good bakery, both worth a look before or after.
The Coffee
The coffee itself was disappointing on our visit, thin where we hoped for depth. The iced chai latte was the real find, well-spiced and easily the better order, alongside a solid rotation of pastries and sandwiches.
The vault is gone. The room it left behind is worth the trip on its own.
The Vibe
It's an easy room to sit alone in for a while, quiet enough to read or work without ever feeling stiff. The bank-vault bones of the space do a lot of the work, giving it a hush that most basement cafes in Tokyo don't manage.
The Verdict
Come here for the room, not the roast. Between the architecture, the chai, and one of the better basement atmospheres in Nihonbashi, coin is worth the visit even on a day the coffee doesn't deliver.
