Minimal The Baking Yoyogi-Uehara
Uehara, Shibuya · Tokyo · Steep Index 8.4/10

Tokyo's second Minimal, tucked into Yoyogi-Uehara and built entirely around gateau chocolat rather than the flagship's tasting-counter format. Quaint, small, and worth the detour if chocolate is the actual point of the visit.
The Steep Index
The drink axis leads clearly, the hot chocolate and gateau chocolat both rich enough to match the flagship's reputation. Solo-Friendliness follows close behind, an easy room to sit alone in and let the chocolate do the talking. Atmosphere holds up on a genuinely quaint, small space and consistently friendly staff. Value sits a touch lower, since specialty chocolate desserts at this level are never going to be cheap, and Staying Power reflects a room with only eight seats total.

Perfect for: reading
Specialty: chocolate
The Space
Quaint and genuinely small. Four counter chairs, one two-person bench, and one two-person table make up the entire room. Staff serve with a smile throughout.
The Coffee
The hot chocolate is rich and did not disappoint, and the gateau chocolat matches it, dense in the way a proper chocolate cake should be rather than just sweet. This is a chocolate-tasting-first menu, and it earns that framing.
A hot chocolate and a gateau chocolat that live up to the name on the door.
The Vibe
Small enough that the room and the counter staff carry the whole visit, and they carry it well. A genuinely good spot to sit alone with a slice and a cup if chocolate is what you are after.
The Verdict
Tokyo's second Minimal earns its own visit rather than riding on the flagship's name, the gateau chocolat alone is worth the trip. Go solo, order the pairing, and do not rush it.
