The Steep Index
Atmosphere and solo comfort lead here, matching the stylish interior, jazz on the speakers, and a barista who is clearly coffee-obsessed. Coffee sits lower than the room deserves. The Carmo de Mina latte arrived milk-forward, burying the roasted almond notes the bean is known for, a real letdown against the high marks this place usually earns online.

The Space
MYTH CAFE occupies a small corner of Koenji-Kita, mostly a takeout counter with six seats along the bar. The interior is tightly styled, warm wood and quiet color, with jazz running low in the background the entire visit.
The Coffee
The hot latte was pulled on Carmo de Mina, a Brazil lot chosen to show off roasted almond, but the milk ran heavy and flattened the bean's own character. The chocolate terrine ordered alongside it fared much better, rich without tipping into heavy, and easily the better order of the two.
The chocolate terrine was the standout of the visit. The latte, on a day the beans deserved better, was not.
The Vibe
The owner runs the counter with real warmth and clearly cares about the coffee program, even on a day it didn't land. The menu runs longer than the room suggests, and the whole space reads as somewhere to sit alone, watch Koenji go by, and not check email.
The Verdict
This is a place to slow down in, not to work in, and the venue's own house rules make that explicit: no laptops, no studying. Go for the room and the chocolate terrine, and treat a great cup as likely rather than guaranteed.
