A tiny, half-underground, standing-room-only natural wine bar just off Shimokitazawa's frantic main street, easy to miss unless you already know the stairs down. The room has a genuinely nice vibe, but the wine wasn't being kept at the right temperature and the welcome depends on who's working.
The Steep Index
Staying Power leads, "not a bad place to chill out" reads as a genuine strength once you are actually in the room. Atmosphere follows close behind on the same easy, nice vibe. A standing room only, natural wine bar, and on this visit the wine itself was not even held at the right temperature. Solo-Friendliness sits close to that same low mark, the bartender working the night we visited was frowsty and not the most welcoming. Value holds up moderately in between.

The Space
Shimokita Komorebi sits half underground on Shimokitazawa's busiest main street, easy to walk straight past unless you are already looking for the stairs down. Inside it is tiny and standing room only, no counter seats at all, in a room that feels like a genuine hideaway from the crowd outside.
The Pour
The list here is natural wine only, and on this visit it read as thinner than the format promises. Worse, the wine itself wasn't being kept at the right temperature, a real miss in a bar built entirely around it.
The room has a nice vibe to it. The wine list and the welcome both fall short of it.
The Vibe
The room itself has a nice, easy vibe to it. The bartender working the night we visited was not the most welcoming, which is a real shame in a space built for exactly the kind of night where that matters most.
The Verdict
Not a bad place to chill out, and worth ducking into if you are already on the block. Whether it is worth seeking out on its own depends entirely on who's working that night, and whether the wine is actually being kept properly.
