The Space
A high-ceilinged room inside the SANU NOWHERE complex in Nakameguro, with a lower-level lounge area that gives the venue considerably more depth than the entrance suggests. The basement seats are the right seats.
The Coffee
Onibus roasts in-house and the Nakameguro filter menu reflects a decade and a half of sourcing relationships, with hand-drip work on Rwanda and Guatemala lots that repays attention. The sourdough sandwiches are worth adding, and from five in the evening the menu extends to wine and tacos without the room feeling like it changed its mind about what it is.
Onibus has been doing this since 2012. The Nakameguro basement is the room that proves it.
The Vibe
The basement draws solo workers and people who know the roaster and came specifically for the filter bar. The pace is unhurried in a way that feels earned rather than affected.
