or COFFEE
Ebisu, Shibuya · Tokyo · Steep Index 8.1/10

A minimalist coffee stand two minutes from Ebisu Station, carried more by its owner than its cortado.
The Steep Index
Solo and atmosphere lead, a hushed, pared-back room built for sitting alone with wifi and an outlet nearby. Coffee is the deliberate low point: a cortado that read flat against real pre-visit expectations. Value holds up on genuinely affordable pricing, a short walk from the station.
- Coffee / Drink Quality: 7.0/10
- Atmosphere: 8.8/10
- Solo-Friendliness: 8.9/10
- Value: 8.0/10
- Staying Power: 7.8/10
- Overall: 8.1/10
Perfect for: reading, working alone
The Space
or COFFEE sits two minutes from Ebisu Station, sharing a ground-floor room with an attached tattoo studio next door. Eleven seats split between a five-stool counter and a pet-friendly bench, white walls and exposed concrete, nothing on the counter that does not need to be there.
The Coffee
The cortado runs on a blend of Ethiopian and Colombian beans from NOG Coffee Roasters, a roastery run by a friend of the owner's. It read flat on our visit, more milk than punch, a real letdown against the Google reviews that set our expectations going in.
What you'll remember is the conversation at the counter, not the cortado.
The Vibe
Quiet on weekdays, crowded fast on weekends once the tourist crowd finds the pet-friendly bench. The room trades on its ambience more than its workability, though the small counter is comfortable enough for a laptop if you want to stay a while.
The Verdict
The conversation at the counter is the best part of or COFFEE right now, warm and unhurried for a spot two minutes from a major station. The cortado needs work; we're giving it a second visit before writing it off.
