Daycation Coffee
Downtown St. Petersburg · St. Petersburg · Steep Index 8.8/10 · Steep Pick

A tiny owner-run shop just north of Central Avenue that looks like nothing from the street, where the owner and staff talk you through how to drink the house specialties.
The Steep Index
Coffee leads on a brown sugar cortado and a signature drink, Ode to My 90s, that a second visit confirmed. Atmosphere and service follow close behind, with an owner and staff who explain each specialty. Value sits lowest simply because no price stood out either way.
- Coffee / Drink Quality: 9.4/10
- Atmosphere: 8.9/10
- Solo-Friendliness: 8.7/10
- Value: 8.3/10
- Staying Power: 8.7/10
- Overall: 8.8/10
Perfect for: espresso pilgrimage
The Space
A very small shop on MLK Street, a block north of Central Avenue, that is easy to walk straight past. Inside there is a small table, a short bar and a few seats outside.
The Coffee
The cortado on the Daycation Blend, a medium roast of Yunnan, China beans made with Torch Coffee, smelled wonderful and tasted of brown sugar, and the banana bread beside it was moist and properly good. On a second visit I had their most popular drink, Ode to My 90s: black sesame cream on top, crunchy date slices, a double espresso and your milk of choice, and it is easy to see why it sells best.
Do not let the outside fool you.
The Vibe
The owner is behind the bar herself and she could not have been friendlier. She and the staff explain how to drink each of the specialty drinks, and the service was excellent on both of my visits.
The Verdict
This is a real espresso stop if you are anywhere near the neighborhood. The front is plain, the coffee is excellent, so go in and ask for the Ode to My 90s.
