Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails
Downtown St. Petersburg · St. Petersburg · Steep Index 8.6/10 · Steep Pick

The same high-ceilinged Central Avenue room after dark, with a cocktail list that treats coffee as an ingredient and a Cafe Mexicana worth crossing town for.
The Steep Index
Drink and atmosphere lead together, on a coffee cocktail with real depth and a tall, polished room. Value is the soft axis because prices were not the story.
- Coffee / Drink Quality: 9.2/10
- Atmosphere: 9.3/10
- Solo-Friendliness: 8.2/10
- Value: 8.0/10
- Staying Power: 8.3/10
- Overall: 8.6/10
Perfect for: slow evening, impressing someone, people watching, first date, reading, slow weekend
The Space
By night the high ceilings do the work, and the room feels polished without being stiff. It is the same space as the daytime coffee shop, which is part of the charm.
The Pour
The Cafe Mexicana is the one to order: reposado tequila, coffee liqueur, dry curaçao, cold brew steeped for 16 hours and a cap of vanilla cream. It was quite delicious, rich without being sweet, and I would order it again. The list also runs to other coffee cocktails and a good choice of wine.
Coffee cocktails done properly, in a room that looks the part.
The Vibe
The room is inviting and the staff were convivial, easy to talk to without hovering. It is posh in the way of a room that has been looked after, not one that is trying hard.
The Verdict
Order the Cafe Mexicana and take a seat under the ceiling. Go Tuesday to Sunday, since Monday is daytime only.
