Bar Moxy

Downtown St. Petersburg · St. Petersburg · Steep Index 8.3/10

Bar Moxy — St. Petersburg

A posh, vibrant lobby bar in the Moxy hotel on Central Avenue, with friendly staff and an Albariño worth ordering, let down by a dirty glass.

The Steep Index

Atmosphere leads on a luxurious room with a sense of fun, and the Albariño was excellent. Value is the soft axis, because the glass arrived dirty, and that one lapse is the only reason this is not a Steep Pick.

  • Coffee / Drink Quality: 8.5/10
  • Atmosphere: 8.7/10
  • Solo-Friendliness: 8.9/10
  • Value: 7.5/10
  • Staying Power: 8.1/10
  • Overall: 8.3/10

Perfect for: slow evening

The Space

Bar Moxy is the lobby bar of the Moxy hotel on Central Avenue. The interior feels luxurious but with a sense of fun, and the room has a vibrant energy.

The Pour

I ordered a glass of Terras Gauda Albariño from Rías Baixas in Spain, and it was delicious: high in acidity, zesty, with a clearly ocean-influenced profile. The fruit aromatics were sharp without being overpowering, and there was a savory edge underneath. I stuck to wine and did not try a cocktail, and the glass it arrived in was dirty.

The wine was excellent. The glass was not clean.

The Vibe

The staff were friendly and the whole place has a lively, polished mood. The ambience was wonderful.

The Verdict

Great wine in a room with real energy, held back by a dirty glass that should never have left the bar. Fix that and this is an easy Steep Pick.
