Kahwa Coffee

Downtown St. Petersburg · St. Petersburg · Steep Index 7.9/10

Kahwa Coffee — St. Petersburg

The original downtown shop of a Gulf Coast roaster, with sunny indoor seating, sidewalk tables and courteous staff, serving a decent flat white and an ok waffle.

The Steep Index

Atmosphere and solo lead on a naturally lit room with plenty of seats, indoors and out. The coffee is solid rather than special: a decent flat white, an ok waffle, and staff who could not say which beans we were drinking.

  • Coffee / Drink Quality: 7.4/10
  • Atmosphere: 8.5/10
  • Solo-Friendliness: 8.4/10
  • Value: 7.2/10
  • Staying Power: 8.0/10
  • Overall: 7.9/10

Perfect for: working alone, people watching

The Space

There is a lot of natural light and the ambience is easy, with ample seating inside and plenty of al fresco tables out on the sidewalk. It is the kind of room where finding a seat is not a worry.

The Coffee

Kahwa roasts its own beans, so I asked the staff what was in my flat white. They did not know. It was a medium-dark roast blend, and the flat white was decent. The waffle alongside it was ok, nothing more.

Good light, plenty of seats, a flat white that does the job.

The Vibe

The staff were courteous. The sidewalk seating makes it a good place to watch the street go by, and the room is comfortable enough to work in for a while.

The Verdict

A dependable downtown stop for a decent flat white, a seat, and some people-watching. It is a good place to work, though it would help if the team could tell you what is in the cup.
