Rose's Coffee Bar

Downtown St. Petersburg · St. Petersburg · Steep Index 7.9/10

Rose's Coffee Bar — St. Petersburg

A polished, spacious coffee bar on the ground floor of the Moxy hotel on Central Avenue, with seats to spare and a terrace outside.

The Steep Index

Atmosphere and solo lead together on a roomy, well-dressed space with plenty of seating. Coffee sits lowest, but this score rests on one cold brew, so it should move once the espresso drinks get a proper try.

  • Coffee / Drink Quality: 6.3/10
  • Atmosphere: 9.0/10
  • Solo-Friendliness: 9.0/10
  • Value: 7.5/10
  • Staying Power: 7.9/10
  • Overall: 7.9/10

Perfect for: reading, people watching, working alone

The Space

Rose's sits on the ground floor of the Moxy hotel and feels far more put together than a typical hotel coffee counter. The interior is posh and well appointed, there is plenty of room to sit, and there are tables outside.

The Coffee

I ordered the cold brew, which the staff said is made at another location. It tasted flat and a little too bitter for me. That is one drink, and I plan to come back for the espresso.

The room is better than the cold brew.

The Vibe

The mood is lively without being loud, and nobody minds a solo visitor taking a table for a while. It is an easy place to unwind on your own.

The Verdict

Come for the room and a quiet hour alone. Skip the cold brew and try an espresso drink instead, which I will report on next visit.
