Ruya
Downtown St. Petersburg · St. Petersburg · Steep Index 7.4/10

A warm, Moroccan-leaning coffee and wine lounge with a big shaded backyard patio and friendly staff, though the cold brew was bitter and the mousse too dense.
The Steep Index
Atmosphere leads on a cozy, warm room and a spacious patio, with solo close behind. The coffee is the weak point: a cold brew that was bitter through and through, and a mousse that missed what a mousse should be.
- Coffee / Drink Quality: 5.6/10
- Atmosphere: 9.0/10
- Solo-Friendliness: 8.8/10
- Value: 6.8/10
- Staying Power: 6.8/10
- Overall: 7.4/10
Perfect for: reading
The Space
The interior is cozy and inviting, with a warm look that makes you want to stay. Out back there is a spacious patio, shaded and green, which is where a solo visit with a book belongs.
The Coffee
I ordered the cold brew and it tasted bitter, and not in a good, bold way. The chocolate mousse was too thick, closer to a dense pudding than the airy texture a mousse should have. It is one visit and one drink, but it did not match the high rating the place carries online.
A room that is easy to love, a cold brew that is not.
The Vibe
The staff are affable and the pace is unhurried. It suits a solo visit, whether you want to read, switch off, or just sit out on the patio.
The Verdict
A lovely place to be and a disappointing place to order the cold brew. Go for the room and the patio, and try something other than what I did.
